The iQue is Nintendo's new console they have just announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2003. Initially planned to be released by mid-october, the controller-style console plugs directly into the TV and comes with a 64 Mega Bytes Flash Memory Card to store the games. The release is confirmed and currently will ship in two sets. (1) iQue Player with the full version of Doctor Mario and Mario 64 and trial versions of Star Fox, Zelda 64 and Wave Race for US$ 99.90(around CYPŁ 60), and (2) with the full version of all the games for US$ 129.90 (around CYPŁ 75) That the iQue player is a Nintendo 64 console that makes use of similar Nano-Technolgy that is used in Sony's PSX: the technology used will allow the unit to have a single chip solution containing CPU, Graphic Engine, GPU etc. Another important detail is that the OS of the iQue can be updated. The system is said to work similar like the one that Microsoft plans to build into the Xbox2 console, and is simply called UOS.

E3 2004 gears up for next-gen console showdown, while elsewhere, there's speculation that GameCube's successor will actually launch in 2004...
US news service Bloomberg reports that Nintendo plans to launch a new games console next year in Japan in a bid to stem losses. The console is set to be unveiled at the May 2004 E3 show, according to senior managing director Yoshihiro Mori, speaking to reporters in Osaka.

Nintendo has shot to the top of the class in America, with the GameCube outselling the PS2 by 20 per cent to become the best selling home console in the USA last week following a price reduction in late September. According to a statement from Nintendo of America, the Cube was the second biggest selling console in the country (after the Game Boy Advance, which consistently outsells all of the home consoles) for the week ended October 4th.
This achievement saw it outselling the PlayStation 2 by a 20 per cent margin, and racking up more than twice the sales of the Xbox - with a 145 per cent lead over Microsoft's console. How long this situation will last is another question - we'd expect to see the console slip behind the PS2 in the rankings next week, at the very least. However, there's a strong possibility that unless Microsoft reacts to the recent price-cuts, it could be outsold by the Cube this Christmas in the USA, as Nintendo rolls out one of its strongest ever ranges of first and third party titles.
