Something I can not stand is the large difference between prices in Cyprus and the rest of the EU countries.

I stopped buying games from local stores. We are talking about 20 Euro price difference and sometimes larger for every game.

It is ironic since the purpose of the EU is a unified market. Yet Cyprus takes it in the butt.

Platinum versions for Resistance 2 and Motorstorm 2 can be found abroad for 20 Euros. In Cyprus we are talking about 30 and above. IF you manage to find the platinum version.

Some stores dont even put the platinum versions in stores and instead prefer to suck your blood with a 60 Euro price tag.

Uncharted 2 is sold through various stores at 70 Euros. I got it from abroad for 50 Euros.

And I can name even more examples but think you got the point.

There is also one particular store I wont name I used to find prices cheaper than anyone else. It also used to come up with offers (including clearance price if I recall) but unfortunately this is no more.

I WILL name though one store that has its games overpriced because its time people realize that they are being screwed. Megaland always has its games more expensive than anyone else. I like the fact that Megaland brings everything you may ask for, but God, games at double the prices?

I stopped buying games from there after I was continuously noticing that almost all of its games were more expensive.

one good example I remember was the platinum version of GT4 which I bought from Micromania for 12 pounds (Same price as with Acappella). It was sold at 24 pounds in Megaland.

We are talking about double the price.

This is not the only game that was/is sold more expensive in Megaland.

Ive been saying it for years and years and i will say it once more again. Megaland are a bunch of f**king thieves and anyone who buys from them instead of micromania is a victim ( THIMA)

Hi Amano

You bring up some good points.
My question about the price's though is, are u looking at UK prices?
Because if you look at spain , italy, germany you will see that most cases we are the same maybe 5 euro more expensive. in some cases i know about Germany we are cheaper.

About the platinum condition.
Im not sure about other shops but we always bring in the game if it goes platinum.
You should know that if a game becomes too old the publisher stops making it and we are unable to bring it though all the stock dries up.
if the game is not a big seller it usually stops being made after 6 months if its a good game you get about a year then if lucky will go platinum and be around for another 6 months

i have heared some shops selling the platinum games at full price 60 euro
and thats not right but it could be an honest mistake of not knowing that its out as platinum

i cant speak for other stores but you should check us out we have some great price on last years games you can check it online micromania.com.cy but for a better idea you should come to the store for a better view of everything

drop by and say hi.

I wont name any sotres. But I have seen some crazy prices in gaming stores. Some times i found the same NEW game 10-15 euro less in one store than onother. What I dont get like other mentioned above why some really famous cyprus stores HAVE to make a lot of money from each game if you are selling so many games. Yes the profit is the main goal of a company but customers satisfaction should be too.

I know we are a small island and thats always been an excuse. But people in Cyprus really need to go to at least 3 different brands(stores) to check out a game cause EVERY SINGLE store has a different price.

Thanks god there is internet because otherwise we wouldnt have a 2nd option at all.

Thanks Hobbit for the info.

Actually Micromania is my favorite store in Cyprus and the only place I see REAL serviceability. You are the best by a difference in my book. I bought my two consoles from you, and brought my friend to your store when he wanted to buy his PS3.

When I buy a game from Cyprus I buy it from you.

It is one place I dont want to disappear since I have memories of your place since the good old 16 bit days when I was a kid.

Yes I was looking at UK prices actually truth be told.

52 Euro

To be fair Germanos is one the the examples where I still find old games selling at higher prices than many new games and I cant even find the Platinum games there. Actually I think I even found a platinum being sold at full price.

And serviceability is crap. They dont know anything about the products they are selling

Hi
yes Germanos does have lower prices on new titles
but they dont have a back catalogue or all the platforms availalble
we try our best to have everything and bring everything
thats why when games get old we drop the price , for new games though we follow the official RRP set by the cyprus distributors.
no one wins in a price war except the customer and thats short lived coz the stores will close and the only standing company can then put the price back up and the customer looses.
as for princing im not aloud to say all i can say is that its not the gold mines that you think it is
